Listen to your inner voice. It's trying to get your attention. Here is a nice way to do that today:
Identify two minutes that you plan to "check out" from the voices around you - and tune INside.
Ask "what do you want me most to know?"
Then listen without defense and give your voice a chance to speak up.
And remember: it's THAT simple.
Remember that rock song that made you dance and sing in the mirror with complete abandonment?
You know the one.
Pull the song out, dust it off, put it on your music player and get to dancing...Dancing is good for the soul.
It is ridiculous to deny yourself feeling good. Joy is essential. If you are not feeling joy, today or tonight go rent a movie where you identify with the main character and make this a character in a movie who is receiving ridiculous amounts of love and joy so you can enjoy the feelings that go along with that.
Listen: every day is an opportunity to smile, laugh and feel amazing. Over-estimate the power of your focus so that you can later realize how much the supposed "over-estimation" of the power of your focus was actually an under-estimation. Today, make your goal to feel good. Don't care how you do it - just do it!
Watch a movie, dance around your office, call an old friend, reconnect with a current one, suprise your partner with romance, go on a walk, join a group, eat at a new restaurant, go on a long drive to a nearby town, change up your schedule at the last minute, take a chance doing something you care about, laugh at everything, make a 24-hour contract with someone you love to agree not to think about the biggest thing that's been bothering you lately, replace your sheets with fresh/colorful ones, clean your entire house from top to bottom, say goodbye to someone toxic, say hello to someone that makes you laugh, smile at people again, eat a light dinner, go to bed early, be "out of character", fall in love, fall out of love, be someone else's hero, stand up for yourself, listen to your inner voice, write a book, write a song, go see a band perform, buy a cd to your favorite band growing up, hold hands, read a book you never would have picked up, drive a new route, cook all of your meals today, highlight only things you like about people, don't talk for an entire day, don't turn on your computer for an entire day, spend all day outdoors...ok, you get the picture. Do something different and you get different results. Make joy your goal today.
I have two suggestions for you - see which one you gravitate towards (or both) and go with it!
1. CLEAN YOUR HOUSE THIS WEEKEND
It's good to have goals and a vision for your life but it's very easy in this day and time to get so "out there" that you're no longer grounded and actively participating in the daily tasks in your life. If you keep this up, eventually you notice that things are getting done and work is piling up. There are many ways to get grounded. One method is to clean your house. I'm not talking about "I vacuumed the carpet" clean. I'm talking about "I used 3 rolls of paper towels and entire bottle of cleaner in ONE room" clean. This is the kind of clean where you put on some good tunes, release your thoughts and just focus on cleaning on a detailed level. A great way to get started on cleaning is to first de-clutter each room by going through all of your things and donating/throwing away/organizing it all. Then get into the nitty gritty of cleaning each room. You'll give your ego a chance to turn the volume down as well as allow your intuition to turn it's volume up so you can hear your inner voice more clearly.
2. FEED YOUR SPIRIT
So often we put an emphasis on the foods we eat and the exercise we get. Today I want to share about the food that feeds our spirit. In the same way that we benefit from listening to our body for direction on which foods to eat, we also benefit from listening to our intuition on the foods to feed our spirit. Sometimes we get to a hard place where we feel we've lost direction, we feel "short" with the people we love or we don't feel the drive and motivation to participate actively in our lives. This week, I encourage you to feed your spirit at least ONCE. Feeding your spirit may involve finding a novel you love, taking time away from everyone and everything, planning a road trip with a good friend, going to the movies alone, meditating, cooking an elaborate meal of all your favorite foods, hiking through nature, going on a camping trip...whatever it is that makes your spirit get excited and feel like you have something to look forward to. Do that for yourself and what you'll notice is that you'll begin to connect to your daily life again.
